The Left Cylinder Head

Before I started this issue, I wanted to add some extra color to the Cylinder Head with my 1mm Liquid Chrome Pen:

Step 01

Fit the Left Cylinder Head Part C to the Left Cylinder Head Part D, aligning the screw holes as shown:

Secure the Left Cylinder Head Part C into place from the other side with three (3) BM screws:

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 02

Slide the Left Cylinder Head Part assembly into the Left Cylinder Head as shown…

… making sure the two pins on the top of Left Cylinder Head Part D fit into these matching holes of the Left Cylinder Head:

Step 03

Fit the Left Cylinder Head Part A to the Left Cylinder Head Part B as shown. Hold these parts together until the next step:

Step 04

Slide the combined Left Cylinder Head Parts A and B down into the Left Cylinder Head.

Make sure this is fitted in the right orientation, aligning the four screw holes as shown:

Begin securing the Left Cylinder Head Parts to the Left Cylinder Head with two (2) LM screws at these corner holes.

In order to make these screws blend in a little better, I airbrushed their heads with Vallejo Model Air 71.035 Camo Pale Brown. Of all the brown paint colors I had, this was the closest match I could find.

Note that these LM screws are longer than the HM screws. If they don’t seem to reach, you may have the screws/holes mixed up:

Finish securing the Left Cylinder Head Parts to the Left Cylinder Head with two (2) HM screws at these opposite corner holes:

Thoughts

The color they chose for this camshaft gallery (and other engine parts) is interesting – I suppose it looks like oil-tinted metal. Still, I am having a blast and completing this pack means we are ready to install the valves and camshafts very soon!
