Left Turbine Housing

As most turbo impellers I have seen are machined metal, I decided to use my 1mm Liquid Chrome Pen to give my impellers a nice shine. If you do the same, be sure to let this paint fully dry (a few hours) or else you will likely damage the smooth surface handling it:

Step 01

Fit the post of the Left Turbo Impeller down into this hole of the Left Turbine Housing:

Secure the Left Turbo Impeller into place from the other side with one (1) DP screw.

If you do not fully tighten this screw, the impeller will be able to spin by hand. You may want this ability as an option once the engine is on display:

Step 02

Fit the alignment holes of the Left Turbine Part B onto the matching pins of the Left Turbine Housing, and press them together as shown:

Step 03

Fit the Left Turbine Part A to the Left Turbine Housing, aligning the locating pin and screw holes as shown:

Secure the Left Turbine Part A into place with two (2) MM screws.

This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 04

Fit the narrow end of the Left Compressor Housing Part to the matching tab of the Left Compressor Housing, as shown:

Secure these parts together with one (1) MP screw:

Step 05

Fit the post of the Left Compressor Impeller down into this hole of the Left Compressor Housing:

Secure the Left Compressor Impeller into place from the other side with one (1) DP screw.

Again, if you do not fully tighten this screw, the impeller will be able to spin by hand:

Step 06

Fit the Left Rear Compressor Case into the matching opening of the Left Compressor Housing, as shown:

Secure the Left Rear Compressor Case to the housing with two (2) UM screws:

Step 07

Press the post of the Left Rear Compressor Case into the center hole of the Left Turbine Part B.

Since this connection is press-fit, you can easily rotate these two assemblies so the ‘cutaway’ section is lined up, as shown:

Step 08

Fit this entire Left Turbo assembly to the rear of the Left Cylinder Head, aligning the locating pins and screw holes as shown:

Secure the entire Left Turbo assembly to the engine with two (2) LM screws:

Thoughts

I really had a good time building this turbo assembly! Be careful handing the engine from this point on as many of these turbo parts are plastic and could be damaged if you put the weight of the engine down on them.
