Build


Camshaft Chains

Step 01

Retrieve a Camshaft Sprocket B and Camshaft Sprocket C from the previous pack. Fit these Sprockets inside one of the Camshaft Chains.

Note that the two Camshaft Chains are slightly smaller than the Oil Pump Chain – be sure to use the correct one here. Also, ensure the raised center sections of the Sprockets are facing up and the thicker Camshaft Sprocket B is to the right, as shown:

Step 02

Retrieve your engine assembly from the previous pack. Fit this Camshaft Chain assembly onto the keyed posts of the Right Camshafts, aligning the sprockets as shown:

Secure the Camshaft Sprocket C to the end of the Right Exhaust Camshaft with one (1) NM screw.

Do not over-tighten this screw as the sprocket should be able to rotate freely. This is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 03

Retrieve a Camshaft Sprocket A from the previous pack and fit it onto the two pins of the Camshaft Sprocket B. Secure this sprocket into place with one (1) HM screw, as shown:

Step 04

Repeating this process again, retrieve the remaining Camshaft Sprocket B and Camshaft Sprocket C from the previous pack. Fit these Sprockets inside the remaining Camshaft Chain.

Be sure the raised center sections of the Sprockets are facing up and the thicker Camshaft Sprocket B is to the left, as shown:

Step 05

Fit this Camshaft Chain assembly onto the keyed posts of the Left Camshafts, aligning the sprockets as shown:

Secure the Camshaft Sprocket C to the end of the Left Exhaust Camshaft with one (1) NM screw.

Remember, do not over-tighten this screw as the sprocket should be able to rotate freely:

Step 06

Retrieve your remaining Camshaft Sprocket A from the previous pack and fit it onto the two pins of the Camshaft Sprocket B. Secure this sprocket into place with one (1) HM screw, as shown:

Step 07

Retrieve your Oil Pump Sprocket A and Oil Pump Sprocket B from the previous pack. Fit these Sprockets inside the Oil Pump Chain, as shown:

Step 08

Fit the larger Oil Pump Sprocket A of this Oil Pump Chain assembly onto the keyed post of the Front Bearing Crankshaft, and fit the smaller Oil Pump Sprocket B onto the post of the Oil Pump, as shown:

Secure the Oil Pump Sprocket B to the Oil Pump post with one (1) DP screw.

Remember, do not over-tighten this screw as the sprocket should be able to rotate freely. Also, on my model, I ended up flipping the Oil Pump Sprocket A around in the next pack as it was rubbing on my Oil Pump Pipe (see the next pack for details):

Thoughts


I am so grateful that these Chains are already pre-assembled – I would not have wanted to build these things manually! They are a nice combination of plastic pins held together with stainless steel links, so they are quite realistic.
