“Now it is time to assemble the Steering Rack and attach it to your NISSAN GT-R (R35) model.”
Retrieve your Chassis assembly. Fit the two posts of the Steering Rack Base down into these holes of the Chassis:
From below, secure the Steering Rack Base to the Chassis with two (2) GM screws, as shown.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Slide the long tab of the Steering Rack down through this slot of the Chassis. The toothed rack should sit securely within the rails on top of the Steering Rack Base and the rounded slots should fit over these two posts, as shown.
This felt a bit stiff once in place, so I slid this left and right multiple times to wear down the paint on the posts until it moved easily:
Secure the Steering Rack to the Chassis with two (2) NM screws, as shown.
These should be not over-tightened. The Steering Rack should be able to slide left and right about a half inch or so:
We did not use the Steering Shaft in this pack, but keep it someplace safe as we will need in Pack 53. Based on the range of motion of these parts (as well as the steering knuckles themselves), the front wheels are not going to turn all that much.
