Build
The Right Door
Step 01
Fit the Magnet into this hole on the back of the Right Door, as shown:
Step 02
Retrieve your Door Opening Tool we used back in Pack 83. Place the Door Opening Tool on the outside of the Right Door where the Magnet is and make sure it is attracted to the Magnet. If not, the Magnet needs to be removed and turned around:
Fit the Magnet Holder over the Magnet as shown, and secure it into place with one (1) DM screw.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Step 03
Fit the Right Door Handle into this matching recess on the outside of the Right Door, as shown:
Secure the Right Door Handle into place from the inside with two (2) BP screws:
Step 04
Fit the Right Door Hinge to this location on the inner front edge of the Right Door.
IMPORTANT: My printed instructions were incorrect in this step! Make sure the ‘R’ marking on the Right Door Hinge is upside down, as shown here. If you attach the hinge according to the instructions, you may not be able to mount the door to the car:
Step 05
Fit the Right Door Hinge Holder over the these two posts, covering the ‘bar’ of the Right Door Hinge, as shown:
Secure the Right Door Hinge Holder into place with two (2) NM screws.
The tighter these screws are, the stiffer the door will be to open and close. Note that when I took this picture, it was before I found out the hinge has to be upside down:
Thoughts
I’ve had very few problems with the instructions for this GT-R model up to this point, however, this Hinge position is a big mistake! I did not realize this until I worked through Pack 90 and was trying to attach the door to the Body. There was no way it was going to fit. The posts on these Hinges are slightly offset and, to match the holes in my Body, it had to be upside down on this Right Door. This was especially troublesome as I had already fitted the Speaker to the Door Panel which covers a screw needed to remove the panel and flip the Hinge around. Please check your Hinge fitment to make sure!
